چکیده

The dynamics of velocity fluctuations governed by the Burgers equation, driven by the white-in-time random forcing function with f fsx 1 r , td 2 fsx, t0dg2 ~ rdst 2 t0d is considered on the interval 0 , x , L. The properties of the probability density function of velocity differences PsDu, rd are investigated for the three cases j h0; 1y2; 2j. It is shown that the tail of the probability density function in the interval Duyrz ø 21; jDuj ø urms and r ø L is accurately described by the asymptotic algebraic relation P sDu, rd ~ rysDud with g 1 1 1yz, where z sj 1 1dy3. A detailed numerical investigation, performed in this work, supports this result. [S0031-9007(96)01384-1]

Universal Statistics of Inviscid Burgers Turbulence in Arbitrary Dimensions

We investigate the non-perturbative results of multi-dimensional forced Burgers equation coupled to the continuity equation. In the inviscid limit, we derive the exact exponents of two-point density correlation functions in the universal region in arbitrary dimensions. We then find the universal generating function and the tails of the probability density function (PDF) for the longitudinal vel...

Intermittency of Burgers’ Turbulence

We consider the tails of probability density function (PDF) for the velocity that satisfies Burgers equation driven by a Gaussian large-scale force. The saddle-point approximation is employed in the path integral so that the calculation of the PDF tails boils down to finding the special field-force configuration (instanton) that realizes the extremum of probability. For the PDFs of velocity and...

Kolmogorov turbulence in a random-force-driven Burgers equation: Anomalous scaling and probability density functions.

High-resolution numerical experiments, described in this work, show that velocity fluctuations governed by the one-dimensional Burgers equation driven by a white-intime random noise with the spectrum |f(k)| ∝ k exhibit a biscaling behavior: All moments of velocity differences Sn≤3(r) = |u(x+ r)− u(x)| n ≡ |∆u| ∝ rn/3, while Sn>3(r) ∝ r ξn with ξn ≈ 1 for real n > 0 (Chekhlov and Yakhot, Phys. Large negative velocity gradients in Burgers turbulence.

We consider one-dimensional Burgers equation driven by large-scale white-in-time random force. The tails of the velocity gradients probability distribution function (PDF) are analyzed by saddle point approximation in the path integral describing the velocity statistics. The structure of the saddle-point (instanton), that is, the velocity field configuration realizing the maximum of probability,...

PDFs for the Random Forced Burgers Equation
